Route Brief & Best Way to Yogyakarta

For International participants, we’d like to suggest your flight directly to Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA) in Kulon Progo, Yogyakarta, as it is the nearest airport to the venue.

Most international participants will transit through Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (CGK) in Jakarta or 
Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS) in Bali, then take a domestic flight to YIA.

From Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA) to Your Hotel


Distance from YIA to city center: approx. 40–50 km
(travel time 1–1.5 hours by road, depending on traffic)

By the airport, we recommend reaching the venue by Taxi (airport either regular).

Airport taxi counter available at the arrival hall (fixed fare, reliable).
Fare to city center: IDR 150,000 – 250,000 (USD 8 – 14) depending on destination.
Payment: Cash (IDR) or credit card (some counters).

From the bus terminal, take a short taxi/online ride to your hotel.

Kereta Api Bandara (Airport Train)

Takes only 50 minutes (approx.) from Yogyakarta International Airport to Yogyakarta Train Station (Tugu). Book your online ride to hotel then.
• Fare: ~IDR 50,000 – 70,000 (USD 2.8 3.9)

Online Transportation (Ride-hailing apps)

Available apps: Grab, Gojek
(similar to Uber)

(4-wheeler option):
• Pick-up point at the airport’s designated ride-hailing zone (follow signs, usually parking area).
• Fare to city center: ~IDR 120,000 – 180,000 (cheaper than airport taxi).

(motorbike option):
Fare to city center: ~IDR 60,000 – 90,000
only for solo travelers with light luggage (not recommended with large suitcases).
Faster if traffic is heavy.

Check with your conference hotel if they offer paid or complimentary airport pickup. Usually requires advance booking.

Practical Tips for International Participants!!

Currency: Carry some Indonesian Rupiah (IDR) for taxis/buses. ATMs available at YIA arrivals.
SIM Card: Buy a local SIM (Telkomsel, Indosat) at the airport for ride-hailing apps and maps.
Wi-Fi: YIA has free Wi-Fi (limited time).
Language: Most drivers speak basic English; use the app for route to avoid miscommunication.
Traffic: Yogyakarta can be congested. Airport train is recommended if you arrive between 3–6 PM local time.
